July 2000
Welcome to the Euro Clean Coal web site.
New this Month
Mission
The purpose of this web site is to disseminate information on the research, development and demonstration activities in the area of clean coal technologies, including co-utilisation of biomass and waste, co-funded by the DG XII of the European Commission in the framework of the non-nuclear energy programme JOULE.
We undertake this basically by presenting appropriate information on past, ongoing, and developing programmes. Such information may be found by clicking through the History, Joule II 2nd Phase, Joule Thermie Programme, ENERGIE programme and 5th Framework Programme News page links on the left hand menu.
The Euro-CleanCoal Document Base
We have developed a document database in which the reader can access research reports. We commenced last year with the Joule II, second phase, Executive Summaries. This month we have published further Joule-Thermie sets of cluster project reports. These are:
Click on the
button in the project block and
you will be connected to the Project Report Profile, which includes
the report abstract. If you wish to download the full project
report, click on the link within the Profile. In this manner you can
save the report to disk, read it on screen and/or print the document
using your local printer.
The Euro-CleanCoal Communication DataBase
We are developing a communications database of all people closely involved with the co-ordination, management and execution of the research programmes. This database can be queried by the reader and will give information of the people concerned within a “Personal Profile”. This profile presents information of their Affiliation, their Email and Mailing/Courier Addresses, plus Telephone and Telefax numbers and a Photograph, all where available. It also contains an "Email Form" utility.
We
have collected and added communicationsdata for the majority of the "Clean Coal" research projects within the Joule Thermie Programme. These links are actuated through clicking the
buttons in the research programme organigrams which brings up the personal profile of the person concerned in the display window.
If you are named in any of the organigrams and have no personal profile, or your personal profile is incomplete or inaccurate, please use the Data Update Utility provided.
Alternatively, if you wish to be added to the subscribers list of the periodic Euro-CleanCoal Newsletter, please use the Subscribers List Utility. Please note that all those who are in the Euro-CleanCoal database are automatically added to the Subscribers list.
Research Publication
The wide dissemination of R&D information generated "Clean Coal Technologies for Solid Fuels" and other related programmes, to the industrial community, is essential.
We would like to draw your attention to a new Journal - The IFRF Combustion Journal. To quote, the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Terry Wall, of the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia:
“The International Flame Research Foundation has established an electronic Journal on industrial combustion. The prime objective of the Journal is to further the application of scientific principles in stationary combustion technologies, for large scale industrial heating processes, leading to clean and efficient fuel conversion."
Papers detailing experimental and technical investigations will be published in the public domain on the Journal Web Site following rigorous review. The Journal is intended to fill several shortcomings in the present combustion literature.
Publication commenced in September 1999, and the Journal is now fully operational. On completion of the refereeing and correction/updating process of the, the papers are immediately published. Publication is in soft copy format only. Published papers may be downloaded from the Journal web site as portable document format (pdf) files.
The aim is extend to the combustion R&D community; a thorough refereeing process combined with rapid publication of results to an international readership of industrially and academically based engineers and scientists.
Researchers from the "Clean Coal Technologies for Solid Fuels" programme are cordially invited to submit papers – full-length articles or short communications - according to the guide to authors given on the web site. For full details go to: http://www.journal.ifrf.net.
Links
We will continue extending the site to link with other relevant sites within the European Commission. Further, we are cross-linking with sites within the international research community, including other EC supported research projects. This cross-linkage development programme will be continued on the Links page.
If you wish to have a link to your website from euro-cleancoal.net please send us your URL/Web address to info@euro-cleancoal.net from which we will assess the relevancy of your link. If we agree to link your site, we will send you a Euro-CleanCoal icon kit, which you should add to your site in a suitably prominent position.
